James D. Lazenby

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Jimmy D. Lazenby, age 72, of Moose Road, died unexpectedly Sunday, December 6, 2009 at his home. He was born January 27, 1937 in Rowan County, NC, the son of the late Helen Verna Stirewalt and Spencer Lee Lazenby. He was employed with China Grove Textiles for many years before his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam era. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis Lazenby. A graveside service will be 4:00 P.M. Thursday, December 10, 2009 at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC with military rites conducted by the N.C. National Army National Guard and the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard. Survivors include his daughter, Janice Cheek and son-in-law, Bryan of Rockwell, NC; two grandchildren, Allie and Anna Cheek; and two brothers, Willard and Clarence Lazenby.
