On June 24th, 2023, our family and friends lost a remarkable man, James Ennis Leopard. He
was a great and loving Husband, Son, Brother, Father, Father in law, Paw Paw and Friend to so
many. To say that the world will be less colorful without him, is an understatement.
Everyone that knew him, loved him because he was so easy going, funny, fun-loving and
never had a bad word to say about anyone. He had the most contagious giggle. We are
always trying to replicate it but no one can do it like he did. If you know, you know.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bobbie Dale Leopard, that he loved dearly. He tried to
drive her crazy on a daily basis because he was such a silly guy. A true Leopard.
He is also survived by his three children that he loved with all of his heart even though we
probably drove him crazy most of our lives. Rudy Holloway ( Cynthia Holloway) of Landis, N.C. ,
Donna Hamilton of Matthews, N.C. and James Dean Leopard of Concord, N.C.. None of us
could have ever wanted for a better Dad, role model, and Friend. He was simply The Best.
He was also blessed with eight grandchildren that absolutely adored him and he, them.
James Kenneth Butler, Luke Holloway, Wes Holloway, Emilee Lin Leopard, Abby Dean Leopard,
Dakoda Sumba, Olivia Mae Hamilton aka Ollie and Addisyn James Leopard aka, A J. They were
truly the light of his life.
He also had a sidekick that loved him dearly. His brother in law, John Carpenter, was at his
side for the last many months. John waited on him so much. Always brought him that coffee with
lots of sugar and worked in his yard for him when Dad couldnt any more. John loved and loves
helping out. Dad would ask John about his day and what they had to eat every day while he
was out in the community and John was more than happy to give him every detail. Sometimes
once, twice and even thrice.
On his 80th birthday, he was gifted the most precious dog, Daisy Mae Leopard. He loved
her so much and she loved him. She loved licking him and giving him sugars.
He lost his beloved brother, JD Leopard, several years back and his lifelong best friend
a few years back. As much as he wanted to remain on this Earth, he yearned to be reunited
with them both. The bond he shared with them both is something that everyone should
hope they have in their life. I am sure they are living it up in Heaven being the silly, crazy
and fun guys that they always were.
Dad you are and will be missed beyond words for the remainder of everyone’s life
that knew and loved you.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brothers, his grandson, Kenneth James
Butler, his very best lifelong friend, Leonard Earp and his friend and beloved brother-
in-law, Jim Carpenter.
Heaven certainly has gained a new Angel.
In lieu of a service, we will be having a celebration of life on his First Heavenly Birthday at
his and his wife’s home in Concord. Nothing would make him happier than to see us all
together, having fun. We may even have to dance a bit to “ Let’s Get Physical”. His birthday
is August 9th and this year that lands on a Wednesday so we will have the Celebration on
Saturday, August 12th. We would love for everyone to join us in celebrating him. I can promise
you that he will be watching down from Heaven and so proud that we are all together and
happy.
It will be a party that won't be soon forgotten.
If you won't be able to make it, please send him and our family some love that day.
He will be snickering with happiness to see us all together celebrating him.
Dad, Until Next Time…….
