James Hoyt Mcmurry Jr.

Obituary: James Hoyt McMurry Jr., 42, of Davidson, NC and Lexington, SC passed away on November 27, 2012 in West Columbia, SC where he had been working. He was born June 23, 1970 in Mecklenburg County, the son of the late James Hoyt McMurry Sr. and Barbara Elaine Moss McMurry. He grew up in Columbia, SC area and graduated from the University of South Carolina. He moved to Kannapolis area where he lived for many years. He was an avid musician, an expert marksman and was a member of the Earwood Masonic Lodge #371.. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Allen Hess. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 PM Sunday prior to services. At other times, the family will be at Uncle's home, Leonard Nolan Moss, 167 Northcrest Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081. He is survived by a brother, Darek McMurry, nephew, Taete Austin McMurry and niece Anna- Kaete Reagan McMurry, and two half-sisters, Leigh Ann Hall and Kristen Morris. Memorials may be made to the Potters House, 13875 Highway 52, Gold Hill, NC 28071.
