James Hugh Meadows

Obituary: James Hugh "Jim" Meadows, 78, of Kannapolis, died Thursday, May 24, 2018 at CHS-NE, after a brief illness. A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, May 27 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John Futterer officiating. His family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday prior to the memorial service. Jim was born July 1, 1939 in Knoxville TN, a son of the late Roy and Frances Hawkins Meadows. He was a long-time area resident and graduate of Concord High School, Class of 58. Jim was a veteran of the USAF, stationed in Germany and Scotland. He graduated from Evans Business College and ran his own food service called Gourmet Catering, retiring in 2006. Jim was a member of Kimball Lutheran Church in Kannapolis. He was a member of the Jaycees and the Shriners and had many friends. He enjoyed seeing them at the hotdog lunches at Forest Hills UMC in Concord. Jim was a loving father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers; Gene and Bill Meadows. He is survived by his son, Stewart Meadows and wife, Lisa and grandson, Zachary, all of China Grove and his brother, Ken Meadows of Gastonia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and other loving relatives.
