Obituary: James William Miller, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC. He was born July 22, 1927 in Rowan County, NC, the son of the late John Hedrick Miller and Lillian Atwell Miller. James was a graduate of Landis High School. In earlier years James was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company in Kannapolis as a weaver. Later, he worked for Reeves Brothers in Cornelius, NC for many years until his retirement. James was an active member of West Corinth Baptist church, Mooresville, NC where he had served as a Sunday School Superintendent, choir director and member, soloist, and a deacon. He had a special love for fishing especially with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a special man who was loved by everyone. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Smithdeal Miller; three brothers, David Miller, Johnny Miller, and Bruce Miller; and a sister, Betty Daniels. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Friday, May 4, 2012 at West Corinth Baptist Church, Mooresville, NC officiated by Rev. Robert Suttles. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:15 P.M. Friday at the church prior to the funeral service. Survivors include a daughter, Tamara Hinson & husband, Rev. Steve Hinson of Kannapolis, NC; a son, R. Keith Miller & wife, Sherry of Haymarket, VA; a sister, Lois Jones of Kannapolis, NC; three grandchildren, Daniel Kennerly & wife, Ruth, Jonathan Kennerly & wife, Soli, and Matthew Miller; and one great-granddaughter, Jessica Kennerly. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
Visitation: 1:00-2:15 p.m., Friday May 4, 2012 at West Corinth Baptist Church.

Service: 2:30 p.m., Friday May 4, 2012 at West Corinth Baptist Church in Mooresville.

Interment: Burial in the Church Cemetery.
