Obituary: Kannapolis, NC -- James "Jim" Franklin Miller, 80, of Kannapolis, formerly of New Brighton PA died Monday, November 21, 2017 at his residence after a period of declining health. A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held at a later date. Jim was born August 7, 1937 and raised in New Brighton PA, the son of the late John F. and Evelyn Wooley Miller. He served in the Army National Guard and drove a truck for Babcock and Wilcox in Beaver Falls, PA for over 21 years before illness forced him to retire. He moved to Kannapolis in 1993 from Pinellas Park, FL. Jim was an active member of New Hope Independent Freewill Baptist Church in Concord. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Louise Roush Miller, his sisters; Patricia Gray and Janet Roberts and his granddaughter, Erin Marie Fiorenza. Those left to cherish his memory include his children; Victoria Miller Somerville (John) of Kannapolis, NC, Deborah Miller Fiorenza (John ) of LaVergne, TN, Alan Miller (Brenda) of Kannapolis, NC and Jennifer Miller McMahon (Paul) of Palm Harbor, FL, his grandchildren; Heather Fiorenza Jaramillo of Smyrna, TN, Kathie Somerville Haggins (Dale) of Kannapolis, NC, Zachary Landon (Ann) of Seffner, FL, Shane Miller (Dezira) of Kannapolis, NC and Kelly Landon of Palm Harbor, FL, his great-grandchildren; Emanuel Jose Jaramillo, Leah Nicole Jaramillo, Alicia Marie Jaramillo, Juan Alejandro Jaramillo, Kayla Michelle Jaramillo, Lillian Love Miller and Lilah Grace Miller, his step-granddaughter, Ashely Dietz and his step-great- grandson, Liam Dietz. Jim was a faithful servant of God who lived a life full of love. He was a devoted husband, son, father and grandfather. He had a heart of gold when it came to helping people and animals. Family and church were always his priorities.
