James Lambert O'Daniel

Obituary: James Lambert O'Daniel, age 89, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a short illness. He was born November 25, 1919 in Gaston County, NC, the son of the late John Henry O'Daniel and Annie Wooten O'Daniel. He graduated from J.W. Cannon High School and attended Catawba College. He was employed the former Cannon Mills Company, Plt#1 Sewing Dept. for over 45 years until his retirement. He also worked part-time in TV repair service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II as a medical non-commissioned officer in the 10th Mountain Infantry Medical Battalion. He had a love for fishing, boxing, and singing and playing his guitar. A graveside service will be 12:00 P.M. Friday, October 23, 2009 at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Gene Edwards. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Survivors include his son, Jamie O'Daniel & wife, Shellie of Landis, NC; his daughter, Anna O'Daniel Beaver & husband, Scott of China Grove, NC; his brother, Sandy O'Daniel of Concord, NC; his sister, Betty Honbarrier of Kannapolis, NC; and four grandchildren.
