James Doug Owens

Obituary: Mr. James Doug Owens 72, of China Grove, N.C. went home to be with his Lord and Savior December 26, 2018 after an extended illness. Doug was born November 27, 1946 in Rowan County a son of James Crawford Griffin and Seleane Ellen Owens Austin. He was an electrician and had previously owned his own business and had worked for Phillip Morris. Doug loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them and friends at the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He was also a devoted North Carolina Tar Heel fan. When time permitted he enjoyed watching wrestling and riding his motorcycle. Doug was an active member of Concord First Assembly Church and attended as long as his health permitted. Doug was preceded in death by his Mother and a brother. Survivors include his wife Glenda Donaldson Owens of the home a son Brian Hager and a daughter Michelle Kelly of China Grove, N.C., five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brad Harget officiating.
