Obituary: James Ervin Price, 88 of China Grove, NC went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Sunday, April 1st, 2018 at his home. Born September 13, 1929 in Union county, he was the son of the late Roy Culpepper Price and Myrtle Rachel Sustar Price. Preceding in death was his beloved wife, Helen Hubbard Price of 55 years, grandson, Andrew James Schmidt, twin brother, John Culpepper Price, brother, Johnne Max Price, sister, Elsie Christine Price Privette and sister, Janie Price Taylor. Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Daughter, Cathy Price Schmidt (John) granddaughter, Tenille Byers (Tim), Daughter, Judy Price Abernethy (Frank) granddaughter, Julie Abernethy, grandson, Josh Abernethy (Laura), grandson, Jake Abernethy, Son, James Timothy Price, grandson, Hunter Price (Morgan) granddaughter, Haley Price, and numerous nieces and nephews. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He owned and operated his own company, Universal Service, Charlotte, NC, since 1976, alongside his son, James T. Price for more than 40 years. He trusted and kept the faith that God would always sustain his business and he was always faithful. He was an active member for more than 35 years at Landis Baptist where he gave of his time to serve his Lord and his local church in many ways; he was a Deacon, an RA Leader, he was active on several church committees, and he was a beloved Sunday School teacher where he was blessed to teach young boys for more than 50 years. He was a soul winner for God and he enjoyed working with many generations of young boys and would lead them to the Lord when they came through his SS class. He also enjoyed going on weekly soul winning trips for his church where he would knock on doors to tell others about Christ. He also attended and served at several other area churches, Open Door Baptist, Bright Light Baptist, Central Baptist, Piedmont Baptist, and Laurel Baptist. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and family gatherings. He was always full of life and he loved people and many people loved him. He was a beloved husband, dad, pawpaw and a friend to many, and he will be dearly missed by so many. The family will receive friends 10:00- 11:00 am Saturday, April 7th, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Services to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Price will begin at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Hunter Price officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at Carolina Memorial Park, Concord, NC.
