Obituary: James Lee Ranson, 83, of Kannapolis passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the Tucker Hospice House. He was born September 30, 1934 in Rowan County, a son of the late John Lee Ranson and Ida Mae Hampton Ranson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Mae Goodwin Ranson, great granddaughter, Madison and two brothers, David and Arthur. James retired from the US Postal Service in 1994. He was a veteran of the US Navy. James was a member of First Baptist Church of Enochville where he was a former deacon. He enjoyed woodworking. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home with a service to follow at 2:00 PM in Whitley's Chapel officiated by Rev. Lewis Whittington. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military honors by the Cabarrus Honor Guard. James is survived by wife, Betty Whitley Hudson Ranson, daughter, Jamie Sisk (Herbert), son, James H. Ranson (Teresa), step daughter, Rita Hudson Goins (Gary Auten), step son, Randy Hudson (Cherie), grandchildren, Tommy Ranson and Ginny Allman, great grandchildren, Aria and Briana, his sister, Mary Ranson Shue (Colon) and a very special nephew, Tom Foster.
