James R. Reece, Sr.

Obituary: James R. (Jim) Reece, Sr., age 80, died Monday, April 22, 2013 at Brian Center, Mooresville, NC after a period of declining health. He was born November 22, 1932 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Charles Wilson Reece, Sr. and Mary Correll Reece. Jim was employed with the Pilot Freight Carriers, Kernersville, NC for twenty-seven years until his retirement. Later, he continued as a self-employed truck driver for a number of years. He is fondly remembered by family for his love of them especially his late wife. Jim was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the 1950's. In addition his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Earlene Goforth Reece; a granddaughter, Amanda Grace Arlin; and three siblings, Ruth Baker, Annie Lowder, Charles W. Reece, Jr. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, April 26, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Bobby Sutherland. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC with military rites. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his children, Carrie Reece, Tammie Reece, Teena Wilson, Kim Arlin (Dr. Mike Arlin), Candi Phelps, all of Mooresville, NC, and James R. Reece, Jr. of Troutman, NC; grandchildren, Eric Wilson (Maria) of Kannapolis, NC, Chase Phelps of Mooresville, NC, Reece Michael Arlin of Huntersville, NC, and Madison Wilson of Mooresville, NC; great-grandchildren, Michael Cain Wilson, Laura Kate Wilson, and Emily Wilson, all of Kannapolis, NC; and one brother, Conrad Reece (Rachael) of Kannapolis, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
