James Seymour

Obituary: James "Gilbert" Seymour, 83, of Kannapolis went to be his Lord on Friday, November 23, 2012 while at Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House after 6 months of declining health. His Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 26 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel with Rev. Roger Bostic and Rev. Rick Seymour (son) officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Annex Chapel from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the funeral, at other times they will be at 390 Rocky Rick Rd. in Rockwell at the home of Ricky and Judi Seymour. Gilbert was born December 3, 1928 in Madison Co. GA, a son of the late William and Etta Mae Christian Seymour. He was a long-time area resident and worked for Cannon Mills Co. Plant #1-#7 card room for 44 years until he retired. Gilbert attended New Hope Baptist Church when able. He enjoyed being with family and loved his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by his sister, Ora Mae Smith and 2 bothers, Florence and Guy Seymour. Those left to cherish his memories include his sons; Ricky Seymour (Judi) of Rockwell, Randy Seymour and Ronnie Seymour (Terry) and their mother Kathleen Miller, all of Kannapolis, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and brother, J.N. Seymour and sister, Marietta Rachels, both of Greenwood SC and sister, L.A. Gulley and brother, Alfred Seymour, both of Carlton GA.
