Obituary: Sides, James Coleman (Jimmy) Mooresville, NC- James Coleman Sides (Jimmy), age 61, died Friday, May 28, 2010 at Serenity House, Mooresville, NC following 3 ½ year battle with cancer. He was born July 30, 1947 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son the late Alvin Davis Sides, Jr. and Gertrude Freeland Sides. He attended Winecoff High School. He was employed as a salesman in truck sales for 30 years. Some of the greatest loves of his life were racing Legend Cars and other types of racing. He had a great passion and was involved with old cars, hot roads, etc. for years. Many will remember him as an avid shagger and lover of beach music. He is best known as a loving husband to his "Toots" and Papa to his daughter, "Tootie"; he fondly referred to his grandchildren as "Lugnut" and "Sparkplug". He was truly a man that left a mark on every life he touched. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 31, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Revs. Rob Fuquay and Scott Ireland. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Terri Gardner Sides; his daughter, Robin Sides Hilton & husband, Michael of Mooresville, NC; two grandchildren, Alan Michael Hilton and Kameron Blair Hilton; one brother, Abbie Sides & wife, Louise; and a nephew, Ab Sides, both of Concord, NC.
