James Charles Sorrow, Sr.

Obituary: Concord, NC- James Charles Sorrow, Sr., age 74, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after one year of declining health & seriously ill one month. He was born August 20, 1941 in Clark County, Georgia, the son of the late James Peerless Sorrow and Louree Mae Hardman Sorrow. James was employed in the sheet metal business for twenty years until his retirement due to disability. He was also an active member of Northwest Baptist Church, Concord, NC. He enjoyed fishing as a special hobby and being a "Papaw." He also liked working in the shop with his son, Chuck, in his spare time. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Linda Peyton. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Northwest Baptist Church, Concord, NC officiated by Rev. John Lindsay. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC. His body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will be at the home of his son, Chuck Sorrow, the remainder of the time. Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Shirley Spears Sorrow; his daughter, Teresa Sorrow; his son, Chuck Sorrow & wife, Devon, both of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Joshua M. Mann, Brittney Boles, Michael D. Mann, Taylor Sorrow, Kevonna Holmes-Sorrow, and Tristan J. Sorrow; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Sorrow of Hickory, NC and Danny Sorrow & wife, Mary of Nickleson, GA; and a sister, Edna Maddox of Athens, GA.
