Obituary: James Darrell Trexler, 69, of Rockwell went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from his home. He was born on November 20, 1943 in Baltimore, Md., the son of the late John Adam Trexler and Rebecca Jecolia Griffin Trexler. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ricky Dean Trexler and a brother, Ronnie Trexler. James had been in the textile industry for over 45 years. He retired from Tuscarora Yarns. He was of the Baptist faith where he loved Phaniels Baptist Church in Rockwell. He had served as a deacon, usher, along with being on the Cemetery, Building & Grounds and Kitchen Committees. He also served as photographer of the church. He was a member of the Adult Men's Sunday school class. He was devoted to reading God's word. He loved his pastor. He was a loving husband and father. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, Oct. 19th, at Phaniels Baptist Church, Rockwell with Rev. Michael Taylor officiating. His body will lie in state 30 minutes prior at church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday. At other times, they will be at his home, 755 Phaniels Church Rd., Rockwell. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Emmie Aldridge Trexler whom he loved dearly, his two daughters, Kim Trexler and Krista Watson and two brothers, Wayne Trexler and Gary Trexler all of Rockwell.
