James William Walker

Obituary: James William "Big Jim" Walker, 65, of China Grove, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at CMC-NE after a brief illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 21 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Upright officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 20. James was born October 20, 1946 in Iredell Co., the son of the late William and Viola Keller Walker. He was a lifelong area resident and graduated from AL Brown High School in 1965. James was an over the road trucker for Covenant Transport in Chattanooga. He retired on disability in 2002. James loved to hunt and fish and he attended God's Church of Faith in Kannapolis. James will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Walker of the family home, a stepson, James Beyersdorf (Kristi) of China Grove; stepdaughter, Kendle Scheffler (Dave) of Saginaw, MI; sister, Sharon Turner (Jim) of Hanceville, AL and 2 granddaughters, Elizabeth Beyersdorf and Samantha Finley.
Visitation: 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday June 20, 2012 Whitley's Funeral Home.

Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday June 21, 2012 Whitley's Chapel.

Interment: West Lawn Memorial Park.
