Obituary: James Cashion Wallace, age 87, passed away on January 22, 2013 at home. Mr. Wallace was born in Cabarrus County on January 22, 1926 to the late James Clarence and Bess Cashion Wallace. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Wallace Brown. He graduated from W.R. Odell High School and worked as a machinist for many years at Crompton Knowles (formerly Mooresville Iron Works. He retired from Newton Machine Company in Charlotte in 1988. Mr. Wallace was a lifelong member of Coddle Creek ARP Church, a member of the NC National Guard, and Mooresville Gideons International. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marie Walker Wallace; daughters Rebecca Staton and Jane Champion and husband Jimmy, all of Davidson, NC. Grandchildren include Ryan Staton of Raleigh, NC; Heather Staton Colomb and husband Chris of Charlotte, NC; Caitlyn Coley of Kannapolis, NC; step grandson Kevin Gulledge and Kendall of Kannapolis; step granddaughter Mollie Champion of Jacksonville, Fla. and a step great grandson Kaleb Gulledge of Kannapolis, NC. A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Coddle Creek ARP Church Rev. James Hunt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 10:00-11:00 A.M. prior to the service.
