James “Bo” Alexander Bowers, 75, of Concord, died Monday, September 4, after a period of declining health at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
A funeral service celebrating Bo’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 8, at First Baptist of Concord with Pastors Jim Collier and Aaron Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. His family will receive friends at the church during the hour prior to the funeral, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
Bo was born November 10, 1947, in Cabarrus Co., a son of the late William Alexander Bowers and Daisy Lou Gault Bowers. In addition to his parents, Bo was preceded in death by and infant brother.
Despite his cognitive challenges as an adult, Bo loved to work at several local restaurants when he lived in a group home in Statesville; cleaning up and doing maintenance work and greeting customers. Bo was an enthusiastic participant in the NC State Special Olympics. He loved the running events. Bo loved going to church at First Baptist Church in Concord where he was a member for the past 16 years after moving in to live with his sister and brother-in-law.
Bo will be lovingly remembered by his sister Doris Ausmann (Boyd) of Concord, his nephew Danny Ausmann (Joyce) of Concord, his niece Jenny Judy (Dale) of Moncks Corner, SC and his nephew Paul Ausmann (Suzanne) as well as 5 grand nieces and nephews and 7 great-grandnieces and nephews and his beloved lap dog buddy “Sophie”.
