Obituary: Jane E. Beam, age 77 of Kannapolis died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at CMC-NE, Concord, NC. Her funeral will be at 11:00 AM Friday, Nov. 5 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Maurice Staley officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 PM Thursday, Nov. 4 at Whitley's Funeral Home, at other times they will be at 903 Longview Ave, at the home of her son, David Beam. Jane was born June 28, 1933 in Baltimore, MD to the late John and Martha Hubbs Detorie. She was a homemaker to her family and enjoyed playing bingo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter M. Beam, who died January 15, 2008 along with two brothers: Johnny and Pete Detorie. Jane is survived by her daughters; Cindy Dick of Irvona, Pa. and Tina Herlocker of Kannapolis, and by her sons; Walter James Beam of Baltimore MD and John and David Beam, both of Kannapolis. Survivors also include 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, two brothers: Michael and Jimmy Detorie both of Maryland and four sisters: Concetta Burnham of Concord, NC , Gertrude Ford , Bernadine McAllister, and Christine Younger all of Baltimore, Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
