Jane Yow Mesimer

Obituary: Jane Yow Mesimer, age 75, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Katherine Hansen, in Cornelius, NC after a period of declining health. She was born October 3, 1939 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Henry Burton Yow and Rosalie Catherine Honeycutt Yow. She also attended A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis. Jane worked for the former Cannon Mills Company for twenty years and then pursued a career in cosmetology. Upon graduation, she worked for Twin Hair Design and then retired at the age of 71 from Merle Norman Salon. She enjoyed many years of cutting and styling hair and creating many friends along the way. Her favorite color was red. Her favorite season was Christmas. She also enjoyed talking with friends and family. Her kindness admired and her smile will be missed. She is now at peace with many loved ones. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of twenty-eight, Lloyd Lee Mesimer; her three brothers, Larry, Charlie, and Donnie Yow; and two sisters, Lynda Bunton and Cathy Harmon. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Darren Yow. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the funeral home. Survivors include her three children, Mary Elizabeth Dunlap, Billie Katherine Falkner Hansen, and Richard Leon Mesimer; eleven grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
