Jane Nichols

Obituary: Concord, NC- Jane Dickens Nichols, age 73, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC. She was born October 12, 1939 in Locke, N.Y., the daughter of the late Hartley J. Dickens and Gladys O'Connor Dickens. In earlier years she was employed with G.T.E. Sylvania, Seneca Falls, N.Y. for seventeen years. Later, she moved to Sarasota, FL where she worked as a CNA. Still later, she moved to Concord, NC in 1996 where she worked with the Brian Center, Charlotte, NC until her retirement. Jane was a member of Roberta United Methodist Church, Concord, NC where she was active with the senior citizens group. Her family fondly remembers her love of genealogy. She loved her children and her grandchildren in very special ways. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Nichols; and a brother, Gerald Dickens. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Roberta United Methodist Church, Concord, NC officiated by Rev. R. David Cox. Burial will be at a later date at Savannah Butler Cemetery, Savannah, New York. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Saturday at the church prior to the service. Survivors include her sons, Dale LaGas & wife, Brenda and Daryl LaGas, all of Savannah, NY; her daughter, Lisa Shaffer & husband, Ed of Concord, NC; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; and her dog, Patsy. Memorials may be made to Roberta United Methodist Church, 3925 Cochran Road, Concord, NC 28027.
