Janet F. Gray

Obituary: Janet F. Gray, 71, of Kannapolis passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at CMC-NorthEast. She was born April 2, 1942 in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Ralph Cyrus Furr and Jeanette Kennedy Furr. She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Wayne Gray, Jr. Janet retired from Cannon Mills after working 39 years in the Payroll Dept. After retiring, she went back to school and graduated Rowan-Cabarrus Community College with an Associate degree in accounting. In earlier years, she enjoyed doing needlepoint and basketweaving. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Billy Carey. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior at Whitley's. She is survived by her husband, Gary W. Gray, Sr., daughter, Lesley Goforth, daughter-in-law, Connie Gray, grandchildren; Bradley Wallace, Courtney Gray, Devin Goforth, Michael Black, Brooke Gray and Alan Gray, great grandchild, Nevaeh Wiley, brother, Ralph C. Furr, Jr. (Dawn), two sisters, Susan Winters (Fred) and Lori Proffitt, a number of nieces and nephews and a special lifelong friend, Pat Irvin. Memorials may be made to, Jeff Gordon's Children's Hospital, 920 Church St N, Concord, NC 28025.

Interment: Carolina Memorial Park.
