Janet Lee Simmons, 67, passed away Wednesday morning, December 11, 2019, at Tucker Hospice House, following a period of declining health.
Born October 25, 1952, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Harold J. McLain and Marion Louise Campbell McLain.
Janet was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She enjoyed trips to the beach and loved to shag. Janet loved all of her family and her many friends. Gone too soon, Janet will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family members left to remember and always love Janet include her devoted husband of 48 years, Michael “Mike” Simmons; her children, Christy Simmons (Fredrick) and Terry Wayne Simmons (Stephanie); her sister, Judy Honeycutt (Mike); her 6 much loved grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Demarcus, Destiny, Kaitlyn, Samuel and Matthew Simmons; nephews, Robert Honeycutt (Candie) and Dale Honeycutt (Victoria) and her niece, Lisa Shue (Tim); great nieces and nephews; and special friends, Tammy Cooper (Kenny), and Sally and Jerry Wilhelm.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 14th from 1:00-2:00 PM at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Services to remember and celebrate Janet’s life will begin at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Pastor Joel Ervin. At other times, the family will be at the home of her sister, Judy and Mike Honeycutt.
