Janice Laney Barbee

Obituary: Janice Laney Barbee, 71, of Davidson, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at her home. She was born June 5, 1946 in Cabarrus Co. to the late V.L. "Pete" Laney and Mary Lois Whitaker Laney. Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday July 9, 2017 at Shadybrook Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ricky Oxford and Rev. Gene Burke, burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Janice was a graduate of UNCG receiving her bachelor's degree in English, She taught from 1971 to 1977 at W.R. Odell High School, she later worked for Cabarrus County for a few years, she retired from UNCC in 2008. Janice was a member of Shadybrook Baptist Church where she sang in the Choir for many years, she also taught Sunday School and was the church treasurer. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory, her husband of 46 years Ted Barbee, two sons Bryan Barbee and wife Kim of Kansas City, KS, Jason Ray Barbee of Davidson, three grandchildren Kaleb, Kyle, and Katelyn Barbee, two brothers Sherril Laney of Kannapolis, and Lamont Laney of Murfreesboro, TN Memorials may be made to, CIP Fund at Shadybrook Baptist Church, 1009 Oakwood Ave, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
