Obituary: Janice Lynne Greene Harmon Doty, age 62, of 301 John St. died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at her home. Her death was unexpected. Entombment services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, May 8 at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum with Rev. Chuck Overcash officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 Friday at Whitley's Funeral Home at other times they will be at 109 Myrtle Goodnight Rd. in China Grove, the home of her daughter Jana Nance. Janice was born March 1, 1947 in Kannapolis, the daughter of James "Frank" Greene, Sr. and Faynell Childress Greene of Terrell, NC. She was educated in the Kannapolis City School, graduated from A.L. Brown H. S. in 1965 and was a graduate assistant of Dale Carnegie School of Public Speaking. She co-owned and operated Tommy's BBQ. She was also a sales consultant for Carolina Memorial Park. She was a payroll accountant for Collins & Aikman and later for Concord Telephone Co. until she retired on disability in 2001. Janice loved public speaking, and being with her Grandchildren. She liked to make lists and was know for being a very organized person. She was an encouragement to many people and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents she is survived by her daughters Jana Nance and husband, Hootie and Jennifer Harmon and special friend, Jon and two grandchildren, Carmen Fortner and Zane Harmon all of China Grove. She is also survived by her sister, Frances Willingham of Kannapolis and her brother, Frank Greene, Jr. and wife, Sandy of Brea CA. and many other loving relatives.
