Janice King Overcash

Obituary: Janice Faye King Overcash, age 52, went to be with her Lord after battling cancer for nine months. She was born August 28, 1959 in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of Grace Crouch King and the late Charles Edward King. Jan was employed as a regional claims prevention manager at Saia Motor Freight, Charlotte, NC for twelve years. Prior to that time she also had worked for Estes Motor Freight and Old Dominion Motor Freight. She was an active member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, NC where she was a part of the Disciples' Sunday School Class, active with the youth, technology team, and other church activities. Jan was an artist who loved to paint portraits, watercolors, and oils. She also played golf and loved to go to sporting events and see her kids and grandkids. A funeral service to celebrate her life and faith will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Dr. Richard Graf and Rev. Mike Johnson. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home. The remainder of the time the family will be at the residence. Survivors in addition to her mother include her husband of two years and eight months, Charles F. (Frankie) Overcash; Walter Patterson Drinkard IV & wife, Kenda of Kannapolis, NC, Ryan Hartsell of Boone, NC, Anna Overcash of Salisbury, NC, and Justin Overcash of Claremont, NC; two grandsons, Chase and Landon Drinkard; one sister, Diane Lankey of Richmond, VA; one brother, Randy King & wife, Dawn of Chesterfield, VA; and two nieces and two nephews. Memorials may be made to Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, in care of the Jan Overcash Scholarship Fund, 101 Vance Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.

Service: 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church.
