Obituary: Mrs. Janie Lindsay Buckwell, 77 of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at her residence. She had been in declining health but death was unexpected. Janie was born February 4, 1940 in White County, Ga. a daughter of the late Roy Thomas Lindsay and Laura Clifford Abernathy Lindsay. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Reginald "Sonny" Buckwell on August 26, 1997. She moved to Kannapolis in 1942. She worked at Cannon Mills Pt. #1 as a timekeeper for 20 years. Janie joined God's Church of Faith in 1997 and became the Seniors' Sunday school teacher and taught as long as her health permitted. She also led the Ladies' Bible Study Class for ten years. She loved the Lord, her preacher and the members of her church. Even though she didn't have children of her own, she was a loving Christian mother to many people. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Sunday, June 10th, 2017 at God's Church of Faith conducted by Rev. Jeff Upright. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 P.M. Sunday at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. Janie met the love of her life Reginald "Sonny" Buckwell at Glass Roller Rink whom she married September 4, 1959.She was a loving and devoted wife of 38 years. Family survivors include two sisters; Janett Ross and JoAnn Crosby of Kannapolis, nieces and nephews; Deborah Upright, Avis Rumple, Richard Ross, Jerry Biggers and Suzann Bass. Also surviving are six great nieces and nephews. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to God's Church of Faith, 811 Elm St, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
