Janie Margaret Stancil Roberts

Obituary: Janie Margaret Stancil Roberts,85, of Kannapolis, went to be with her Lord Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Morningside Assisted Living, Concord following a period of declining health. She was born March 2, 1927 in Cabarrus County, NC a daughter of the late Sim Caldwell Stancil and Ruth Hartsell Stancil. Mrs. Roberts was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was active as long as her health permitted. In early life she was employed at Terry Products and later was a homemaker taking loving care of her family. She loved working in her flower garden, reading the Bible and poetry, cooking, and was an avid walker and shopper. Her family was her primary love. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Guy Hugh Roberts who died Oct. 13, 1994. Survivors include two sons, Steven (Nancy) Roberts of Anderson, SC and Mark (Annie) Roberts of Charlotte, one daughter, Melinda Ruth (James Sumter) Carter of Bluemont, Va. one brother, Johnny Stancil and one sister, Myrtle Smith both of Kannapolis. Five Grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Max Smith. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service. At other times they will be at their respective residences. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannnapolis, NC 28081.
