Jatanna Natalie Brotherton

Jatanna Natalie Lewis Brotherton, 84, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, December 16, 2024

Jatanna was born on January 5, 1940 in Cabarrus County. She was a cherished daughter of the late J.B Lewis and Elveen Humble Lewis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry Lewis and Michael “Mike” Lewis; and sister, Patricia “Pat” Gibson.

Jatanna and her husband, Larry, traveled to nearly every state and shared a love for riding motorcycles together. She also had a special fondness for the beach, where she enjoyed the sun, sand, and making memories with her family.

She loved being surrounded by her family, and her love for them was unwavering. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished the moments spent with them.

Jatanna had a well-known passion for all things sugary! She loved desserts, always ready to indulge in a slice of cake, a bowl of ice cream. Jatanna had a sweet tooth, but it was nothing in comparison to how sweet she was. She was always willing to help, always giving, and expected nothing in return.

Jatana was a woman of strong faith and enjoyed attending church whenever she was able. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 65 years, Larry Brotherton; daughters, Rachel Morrison (Todd), and Zelda Lawrence; grandchildren, Oliva Nesbitt (Bryson), Andrew Morrison (Summer), Christian Lawrence (Paige), and Zachary Lawrence; she was also blessed with 5 great grandchildren, Ella Ada, and Ivy Morrison, Rhett and Adeline Nesbitt.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm- 2:00pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Service will begin at 2:00pm with Rev. Eddie Graham officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County- 5003 Hospice Ln, Kannapolis, NC 28081
