Jay Coggins

Obituary: Jay Coggins, 73, of China Grove, passed away, Saturday, September 1, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Iredell Co. to the late Lewis Sidney Coggins and Dorothy Roberts Coggins. His extensive education includes: Real Estate Broker, Industrial Psychology, Level II Infrared Thermography and Old English Law. At Duke Power he utilized his First Class FCC license with radar endorsement. At the time of his retirement from Philip Morris due to health issues, he was utilizing his degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and was working on his Master's Degree. Jay took great pride and excelled with honors in all that he did. His driving force was his love for his family. He knew that it was God who blessed him with his strength and wisdom. He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Coggins. Those left to cherish his memory, his wife of 55 years married on September 1, Libby Coggins, two daughters, Donna Cunningham (James) of Salisbury, Lisa Brown (Danny) of Hendersonville, TN, four grandchildren, Brandon and Bethany Peacock, Alex and Zach Brown, three great grandchildren, Dylan, Dalton, and Layla Lomax, one brother, Freddie Coggins, and one sister, Sandy Riley. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, September 8, at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Bradshaw officiating, burial will follow at Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3:00 PM prior to the service at Whitley's.
