Obituary: J.C. Sellers, age 94, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Liberty Lane Hospice at the Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury after several years of declining health. He was born April 9, 1921 in Chesterfield County, SC, the son of the late Charlton Sellers and Mollie Griggs Sellers. J.C. was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, # 2 Weave Room for over forty years until his retirement. He was a charter member of Skyland Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC where he helped build the new church, had also served as a deacon, and was active in various phases of church activities in earlier years. J.C. was also a member of Cannon Memorial Masonic Lodge # 626. His sons proudly remember his passion for fishing and working a garden throughout the years. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Emma Leona Sellers in 1994; four brothers; and one sister. A graveside service to celebrate his memory will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday, July 9 at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, officiated by VA Chaplain Christopher Hill. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home prior to the service. Survivors include his two sons, Jim Sellers (Patricia) and Ronnie Sellers (Tina), both of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Aprille Martin (Scott), Michael Sellers (Mary Ann), Rhonda Upright (Todd) and Angela Mullis (John); eight great-grandchildren, Jason , Max and Sam Sellers, Macayla, Mckenzie and Trey Upright and Adriana and Grayson Mullis.
