Obituary: J D Donahue, 88, of Kannapolis, died Wednesday August 24, 2011 at the Bob & Carolyn Tucker Hospice House where he was a patient. His death follows a period of declining health. Mr. Donahue was born in Rowan County, NC on October 16, 1922 a son of the late Luther Franklin and Kate Duncan Donahue.Mr. Donahue retired from Cannon Mills where he was employed as a fixer in plant #1. He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and served in US Navy during WW II.He is survived by his wife Blanche Herman Donahue with whom he recently celebrated 70 years of Marriage, a son Gary D. Donahue of Concord, 2 daughters, Janet D. Dennis and husband Ken of China Grove, and Susan D. Sheets and husband Gary of Mooresville, 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, and a sister, Merle Baker and husband Charles of Washington, NC.Funeral services will be Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 2:30 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel with Rev. Josh Hughes and Rev. Robert Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM prior to the services at the funeral home.
Visitation: 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Sat. Aug. 27th at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.

Service: 2:30 p.m., Sat, Aug. 27th at Whitlley's Funeral Home Chapel.
