Jean (Melton) Hollaway

Jean Hollaway, 83, of Kannapolis, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Atrium Health Cabarrus.
She was born October 14, 1939 in Chesterfield, SC to the late John Hampton Melton Sr. and Cora Culley Melton.
Jean worked as a weaver in Cannon Mills until her retirement. Her, and her husband of 55 years, Herman enjoyed spending time at the lake house until his passing in 2012. She enjoyed flowers and loved her dog Coco and listening to the old-time gospel music every Saturday night on TV. Jean was a loving mother and grandmother, and she never meet a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Herman Hollaway, two brothers Lee Melton and Luther Melton also a sister Doretha Cassidy.
Those left to cherish her memory; a son Tony Hollaway, two daughters, Cynthia R. Blake, Lisa Stancil (Steve), one brother John H. Melton Jr., four grandchildren; Crystal Gainey, Michelle McDaniels, Nick Stancil (Kacie), Jessica Kiser (Bradley), Great grandchildren, Josh, Donavin, Makala, Ethan, Eli, Kinsley, Hadley, Bexley, Aiden, Baby boy on the way, one great-great grandson Ryan, and a special Neice Vena Little.
Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM Monday, April 10, 2023 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Pauley officiating, burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 to 12:00 PM at the funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer society or Susan Komen Foundation.
