Jean Frances Dwornik Lazarus

Obituary: Jean Frances Dwornik Lazarus, age 88, passed away at home surrounded by loving family after a short illness on Thursday, November 11, 2010. She was born April 23, 1922 in Erie County, NY, the daughter of the late John Soltys and Helen J. Dwornik. Jean had a full and active life. She enjoyed family get togethers camping in the Adirondack Mountains. She was an avid reader, loved bird watching, and was a great lover of the arts. Many schools (especially Shadybrook Elementary School in Kannapolis, NC), hospitals, and her church have appreciated Jean's generous volunteering. She delighted in entertaining and teaching youngsters. Her family will always remember Jean with her wonderful, always present smile and wink. Jean and Dick had 65 loving years of marriage. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a brother, Edward Dwornik; and a sister, Blanche Dwornik Dombrowski. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. James the Great Catholic Church, Concord, NC officiated by Rev. Joseph Dionne, C.S.s.R. Interment will be a private service at the convenience of the family at St. James Catholic Church Cemetery, Concord, NC. Survivors include her husband, Richard L. Lazarus; three sons, Richard T. Lazarus & wife, Nancy Harville of Spencer, NY, William R. Lazarus & Mary Theresa of Sherrills Ford, NC, and Michael J. Lazarus & wife, Stephanie of Marriottsville, MD; a daughter, Linda Lazarus Wiley & husband, Carlisle of Homer, NY; one brother, Stephen Dwornik & wife, Kathy Westfall of Springfield, VA; twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
