Jean Dorothy Callahan Stoy

Obituary: Jean Dorothy Callahan Stoy, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, December 9th, 2014 at CMC-Northeast, Concord NC. Jean was born on December 24th, 1925 in Hancock County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Lawrence Kelly Callahan and Alma Peppin Callahan. She recently moved to Concord with her husband in 2009 to be close to family. She was a member of St James the Greater Catholic Church, Concord NC and formerly at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Chester, West Virginia, where she was active in the Women's Guild and the community. Jean's family fondly remembers her love of being with people and interacting with them. All that knew her in North Carolina affectionately referred to her as Grandma Stoy. Jean was employed in nursing at East Liverpool City Hospital, East Liverpool, Ohio for over twenty years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Delores Working of Tennessee. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Survivors include her husband of sixty five years, John M. Stoy; her son, John (Judy) K. Stoy of Kannapolis, NC; daughter, Cindi (Roger) Gruber of Peoria, IL; four grandchildren, Angel Stoy, Kelly (Joe) Stoy Guza, Michael Yokum and Melissa (Johnathon) Smith; two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Barret Robert Smith.
