Mattie Jeanette Davis Robinson of Concord went to her heavenly home on­ Friday, February 21, 2025.

She was born August 3, 1938 in Madison County, Georgia to Buster Brown "Buck" Davis and Catherine McElroy Davis. She spent her life in Kannapolis and Concord since 1942. She was a 1956 graduate of A.L. Brown High School. After eighteen years as a stay-at-home mom, she worked as a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide at Odell Elementary School for four years and as Secretary/Treasurer for Calvary Baptist Church for twenty-seven years before retiring in 2003.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Kannapolis, accepting Christ as her Savior at age 13. Very active over the years, she served as Sunday School Teacher and Director, WMU Director, Vacation Bible School Director, Sunshine Club Director, Trustee, Music Director Search Committee Chairman, Librarian, and other positions. She was active in the Cabarrus Baptist Church Secretaries’ Association and the North Carolina Baptist Church Secretaries’ Association, serving as an officer in both. Mrs. Robinson’s other interests were genealogy, crafts, scrap-booking, and spending time with family and friends, including her “Ford Street” childhood friends, her “WOW Girls group,” and especially her loving church family.

 She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Lawrence Alexander Robinson, Jr. and her parents. Surviving her are daughters, Renee Busbee and husband, Calvin of South Carolina, Karen Kay and husband, David of Conover, a son, Scott Robinson and wife, Anne of Concord, a brother, John Davis and wife, Linda of Oregon. Grandchildren: Jennifer Allen and husband Brian of Waynesville, Stephanie Webb and husband, Justin of Shelby, Matthew Brown and wife, Rachel of Pennsylvania, Alex Hargis and husband, Robb of Mooresville, Jack Robinson and wife, Gracie of Salisbury, and Molly Robinson of Concord. Great-grandchildren: Genevieve Brown, Luke Webb, James Webb, Piper Allen and Londyn Allen.

 A grave-side service will be at Carolina Memorial Park, Concord, on Wednesday February 26, 2024 at 2:00PM for family and friends who wish to attend. The Rev.­­­­ Tom Tucker will officiate.

 Words cannot express the love she had for her family and friends. She spent a lifetime sharing her love of Christ with everyone she knew. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church, 703 Buick Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28083. Whitley’s Funeral Home is assisting the family of Mrs. Robinson.
