Obituary: Jeff Safrit, 74, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 20, 2018, at his home, following a courageous struggle with cancer. Born May 29, 1943 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Walter Woodson and Winnie Sue Crider Safrit. Jeff was a 1961 graduate of A.L. Brown High school and had attended Appalachian State University. Mr. Safrit was an avid golfer and had retired from Golfsmith in Austin, TX, after 20 years of loyal service. A loving father, grandfather, brother and friend of many, Mr. Safrit will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Family members left with cherished memories include his children, Mitzi Michelle Safrit, Lori Leigh Safrit and Christopher Charles Safrit and wife, Torri; his sister, Aprille Anne Safrit Farnsworth and husband, Jimmy; his brother Ernest "Ernie" Eugene Safrit; his grandchildren, Amber Alis, Deidre Darlene, Christopher Chase and Jordyn Jayce Safrit and Ashton James Barnhill; 4 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Saturday, March 24th at Whitley's Funeral Home. Services to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Safrit will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Per Jeff's request, anyone wanting to share a thought or memory of Mr. Safrit during the memorial service is welcome to do so.
