Obituary: Jerry Ronald Hooper, 79 of Kannapolis died at his home on May 12, 2013. He was born on July 5, 1933 in Cabarrus Co., the son of the late J. Boyd Hooper and the late, Tamer Dancy Hooper. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Steve Hooper. Jerry served active duty during the Korean War with the U.S. Air Force. He owned a number of businesses including Helen's Fabric Center and J & H Hosiery. He received Jesus Christ as his Savoir June of 1982 and it changed his life. He joined the Baptist faith and enjoyed teaching and preaching the word of God. He was actively involved in evangelism up until the time of his passing. Jerry never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone, always ready to help others. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May15, 2013 at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis conducted by Rev. Mike Edwards. Military honors will be conducted by the Cabarrus County Honor Guard. Survivors include his daughter, LaDonna Yoos and son-in-law, David of Kannapolis; 3 grandchildren, Martin Yoos, Celina Yoos and Lesli Hooper; his former wife and dear friend, Helen Hooper; his sister, Geraldine Key and brother, Jimmy Hooper both of Kannapolis.
