Obituary: Jerry Wayne Minton, 74, of Kannapolis, as one final tear descended down his cheek, bid goodbye to this world and entered heavens eternal day, thanks to having accepted Jesus as Savior in his later years, Friday October 12, 2018. He passed away from his earthly home, with his faithful sister and caregiver, Jeanette Minton Morgan by his side, after 18 months of declining health. Jerry was born March 1, 1944 in Thomasville, NC, the son of the late Jones Exodus and Sadie Smith Minton. He attended Rowan County Schools, in young adult life he was employed by Cannon Mills, a carpenter for hire in the later years, and enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and family. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother Ronald Minton, two brother's -in -law Billy C. Morgan Sr. and Larry D Morgan Sr. Those left to cherish his memory; his son Wayne, Brother Larry Minton and wife Marie of Landis, sisters; Jeanette Morgan of Concord (with whom he made his home since 2013), Glenda Morgan and husband Arnold of Kannapolis, and Betty M. Long of Concord. He was also blessed and enjoyed; 11 nieces and nephews and their spouses, (many of whom were his fishing buddies) 24 great nieces and nephews and spouses as well as two great-great nieces and five Great-great nephews. In his final days he fondly expressed joy, when one of the least, 18 month old, kissed him on the cheek. The family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Geoffrey Rackoff and Dr. Russ Bodner for their diligent attentiveness through the years and to HOSPICE Home Health of Cabarrus County for assisting with his care the last 18 months. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, Monday, October 15 from 12:30 to 1:45 PM, followed by the funeral, conducted by Rev. James Pauley and Rev. Don Draughn in the chapel at 2:00 PM, and conclude with interment at Carolina Memorial Park. At other times the family will be at the home of Jeanette Minton Morgan.
