Obituary: Jerry W. Scarborough, 70, of Kannapolis passed away on Dec. 2, 2012 at his home. He was born December 23, 1941 in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Marvin and Marie Rodgers Scarborough. He was preceded in death by a son, Dwaine Scarborough. Jerry had formerly worked as a mechanic for GMC. He then worked for Hendrick Motorsports where he drove a Nascar Hauler transporting various race cars over the country before retiring. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at Carolina Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Ronnie Cooper . The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home. Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited back to Jerry's home for a gathering. He is survived by two children; David Scarborough and wife, Tracy, and Dawn S. Harris all of Kannapolis, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
