Obituary: Concord, NC- Jessie Hight Cartner, age 92, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Carebridge Assisted Living, Mt. Pleasant, NC after a period of declining health.She was born September 20, 1919 in Vance County, NC, the daughter of the late Jesse Hight and Minnie Johnson Hight. She worked on her family's tobacco farms in Kittrell, NC in her early years.Jessie was employed as a sales clerk with Belk's Department Store, Tampa, FL for 10 years until her retirement in 1984. She had lived in this area since 1984. Jessie was an active member of North Kannapolis United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, David B. Cartner who died February 11, 1992; sisters, Mary lee Wells, Doris Floyd; and brothers, Norman Hight and Andrew M. Hight.A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Tommy Conder. Survivors include one sister, Betty Hedgepeth of Kittrell, NC; and number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.Memorials may be made to Carebridge Assisted Living, P.O.
