Obituary: Jessie Patterson Thompson, age 90, died Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Bob & Carolyn Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC She was born October 1, 1919 in Madison County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Gould C. Patterson and Daisy Dean Patterson. She had lived in Kannapolis for most of her life. She was employed with the former Cannon Mills Compamy, Plt.#1 Sewing Room for many years until her retirement. She was an active member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, NC where she was active as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and the social ministry program for many years. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a son, Larry Thompson; two sisters, Mozelle Smith and Grace Chapman; and two brothers, Clayton Patterson and Hugh Patterson. The funeral service will be 3:30 P.M. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. John Mark Beam. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include one son, Jeff Thompson, and two daughters, Janice Thomas and Carolyn Brown, all of Kannapolis, NC; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Russell Patterson of Arcadia, FL, Hoyt Patterson of Central, SC, and Cecil Patterson of Easley, SC, and Winford Patterson of SC; and two sisters, Jenny Merk of Central, SC and Mildred Merk of Six Mile, SC.
