Jim Coy Blue

Obituary: Mr. James "Jim" Coy Blue, 90, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Blue was born September 29, 1922 in Carthage, North Carolina to the late Archie Lee and Sunnie Bell Deese Blue. He worked at Grant Motor Company and Wright Motor Company for 35 years. Jim spent two years in the Army with the famous 4th Division Company 2nd Battalion 22nd Infantry. He earned three campaign stars during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He met the Russians in the outskirt of Berlin Germany. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Kannapolis, and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Kannapolis. Survivors include four grandchildren, Reginald Blue, Lori Stelmack Settle, David Stelmack, and Mark Stelmack; fourteen great grandchildren; a brother, Rev. Henry Richard Blue; two sisters, Barbara Jeanette Blue Edwards, and Betty Sue Blue Huffman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie Gulledge Blue in 1986; a daughter, Janice Fay Blue Stelmack; two sons, Ronald Calvin Blue and James Richard Blue; a brother, Ray Archie Blue; and a sister, Mary Bell Blue Steward; and an adopted son, Bobby Gulledge. A funeral service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel with the Rev. Robert Harrington officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
