Obituary: James A. Hathcock, Jr, 73, of Concord died Friday, February 22, 2013 at Five Oaks Manor in Concord, formerly of Stanly County, following a period of declining health. He was born November 13, 1939 in Stanly County, NC, son of the late James Albert Hathcock, Sr. and the late Carrie Hazel Capel Hathcock. James was employed with Collins & Aikman for 32 years, retiring in 1995. He was a veteran of the US Army. Private family services will be held Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Delle Simmons Hathcock of the Home, One daughter, Tara (Jody) Curlee of Albemarle, one son, Chuck (Christine) Hathcock of Charlotte, two sisters, Carolyn Moyle and Martha Davidson, one grandson, Darrian and two granddaughters, Courtney and Abby. At other times the family will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
