Jimmy Dean Cheek

Jimmy Dean Cheek, 78, of Kannapolis, NC passed away on February 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Dean was born October 5, 1946, in Cabarrus County to the late James Richard Cheek and Vaydeen Rodgers Cheek. He was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School in 1965 and North State Business School. He was employed at Baker’s Body and Glass.

A gifted storyteller and jokester, Dean was always good for a laugh. The twinkle in his eye and infectious laughter brought joy to all around him. Dean loved to spend time fishing with his family, giving the ladies at Lane St. Grill a hard time, and telling stories about the fellas at the shop. He enjoyed playing his guitar, planting his garden, and driving his truck around the neighborhood to check in on friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 56 years, Sandra Linker Cheek, son Bryan Cheek (Janice), daughter Deana Cheek Lewis (Aaron), grandchildren Alexandra Cheek, Anna Cheek Teodorovici (Aaron), and Katherine and Jackson Lewis, and siblings Gail Cheek McArthur (Steve), and Mickey (Peggy) Cheek. He was proceeded in death by his brother, Eston Cheek (Belinda).

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
