Obituary: Jo Dean McCraven Bailey, age 61, passed away of Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at her home after suffering from many years from serious illnesses. She was born March 7, 1954 in Iredell County, NC, the daughter of the late Jerry McCraven and Emma Joyce Peterson McCraven. Jo had been disabled for the past ten years. Prior to that time she had worked throughout the years at Falls Jewelry, Kannapolis, NC; Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Mooresville, NC; and got Fieldcrest-Cannon Mills, Kannapolis, NC. Jo was active with the Enochville Fire Dept. Auxiliary which she took great pride in. Her family fondly remembers her love of beach music especially "shag dance" music. Jo was truly a "selfless" person offering to help people in need all the time. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 5, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Shawn Beaver. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Friday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her husband of twenty-one years, Dwight Bailey; one son, Ronnie Abernathy, Jr. of Kannapolis, NC; two granddaughters, Hannah Abernathy & Brittany Abernathy; and five step-brothers & sisters, Tracy Ramsey, Alan Ramsey, Tammy Ramsey, Lisa Ramsey, and Tony Ramsey. Memorials may be made to Enochville Fire & Rescue Dept., 808 N. Enochville Avenue, China Grove, NC 28023 or Rowan County Rescue Squad, 1140 Julian Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.
