Obituary: Ms. Hinson, 71, born and raised in Kannapolis, NC, won her place in heaven on December 1, 2009 following a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. She passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was born September 16, 1938, daughter of the late Paul and Ann Lorbacher. She is survived by her son Bobby Hinson of Cornelius, NC; daughter Melanie Davis, son-in-law Dean Davis and grandchildren Hanah and Kyle Davis of Charlotte, NC; sister-in-law, Billie Ann Lorbacher of Garner, NC and her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Hinson and her brother, Kenneth Lorbacher. She and Robert were married on April 3,1955. She graduated from A.L. Brown High School in 1956. She began her career in Charlotte, NC as an Administrative Assistant soon after high school and retired at Barclays American Credit Corporation in 1995. Faith, family and friends were so important to Jo Ann. She enjoyed annual vacations with her late brother, Kenneth Lorbacher, and sister-in-law, Billie Ann, touring the country and visiting some of the nation's most beautiful sites. Her favorite things included a love of reading, baking and cooking for family and friends, and spending time with her grandchildren, Hanah and Kyle. She was a member of Bethpage United Methodist Church. She will be missed every day by her family and will always be remembered as a hero for her strength and determination, for her devotion to her family and friends, for her kindness and generosity, and for her unselfish giving to the community and those in need. The family wants to thank the loving caregivers who supported her during her illness, the doctors and nurses at CMC Northeast, CMC Healthy at Home, and the staff at Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman. A special thanks to Bethpage United Methodist Church, her pastor, friends, family and neighbors for their loving support. The family will receive friends from 5 pm - 7 pm on Friday, December 4, at Whitley's Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate Jo Ann's life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Bethpage United Methodist Church conducted by the Reverened Jeff Coppley. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to American Cancer Society 6000 Fairview Rd.
