Joan “Carolyn” Anthony Duplisea, 79 of Kannapolis went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, August 15, 2022 at her residence following an extended period of declining health.
Carolyn was born October 30, 1942 in Cabarrus County, NC a daughter of the late Rufus Andrew and Ocie Crystal Benfield Anthony. She was also preceded in death by her half sister, Phyllis Grimes “Ronnie” of Kannapolis.
Carolyn was a member of Centerview Baptist Church. She was a 1961 graduate of A.L. Brown High School. Later in her life she worked at Cannon Jr. High School in the cafeteria and then at A.L. Brown High School as the library secretary then as the office secretary during the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.
She formed many friends and good memories with the students, many of them considering her a family member to whom they could approach with concerns and problems.
She was also co-owner of White’s Office Supply and Printing and Party Rentals Plus.
Carolyn enjoyed going to the beach and shopping. She loved everyone with all her heart.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Centerview Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Willie Rash. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
Family members left to cherish Carolyn’s memory is her husband of 62 years, Alton W. Duplisea, two sons; Tony Duplisea and wife Lisa of Kannapolis, and Chris Duplisea of Kannnapolis. She is also survived by two daughters, Gina R. Weaver and husband Brian of Kannapolis and Lora A. Smith and husband Jason of Kannapolis.
She is also survived by special daughter, Mandy Duplisea of Kannapolis as well as special adopted son, Bernard Cowan of Salisbury survives. Ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
