83 years old
Joan “GiGi” Figgs of Mooresville passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at the age of 83, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 17,1941, as the first daughter of the late Louis and Catherine Pilosky and grew up with her younger sister, the late Elaine Pilosky Kinnerman, in Philadelphia.
After high school, she married the love of her life, her traveling partner, Robert “Bob” Figgs. Their 65-year marriage made a loving family of 3 children. Their children went on to blossom 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, who she loved dearly and was always there for every step of their lives as an amazing mother, grandmother and “GiGi.”
She and her family moved to New York in 1967 and North Carolina in 1979. Joan always worked in the travel industry, and travel was her and Bob’s passion. She helped start up two travel agencies and went on to a successful career in the airline industry with Eastern, Piedmont and US Airways.
She was a beautiful, loving, vibrant woman who exuded beauty and love into the world and people around her. A creative artist who enjoyed painting, sketching and making wreaths, bows and more, she saw art and wonder in places that most overlooked. She had a thirst for knowledge and always wanted to learn and explore new things. She and Bob traveled the world, going on 85 cruises and countless flights together. Her family was her world, she was a woman of God, and a true lady of class and elegance – always beautifully glowing and put together.
She is loved and missed by her children Joyce F. Hofmann (Raymond) of Mooresville, Robert “Bob” Figgs (Wendy) of St. Petersburg FL, Kimberly “Kim” Figgs (Larry) of Mooresville, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. She is now with Bob, who passed away nearly a year ago, on a cruise ship in the sky, looking down lovingly at the beautiful family they created.
