Obituary: Joan Ethel Trevelyan Henrickson, 94, of Kannapolis, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Stanley Total Living Center in Stanley NC. She was born December 8, 1924 in England to the late Samuel William Trevelyan, and Evelyn Winifred Bryant Trevelyan. Joan attended the Royal Masonic School for Girls. In 1942 while working to support the war effort, she met her husband to be, an American soldier. In September 1945 after WWII ended, they were married in England. As one of many G. I. Brides, she was finally able to immigrate to America in March 1946 where she joined her husband in Salisbury NC. Joan was a member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. She worked for Terry Products for 22 years and later at the Cannon Towel Store for many years until its closure. Joan enjoyed a good book, spending time with family and friends, watching golf and following her beloved Atlanta Braves. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Joseph Henrickson Jr. August 11, 2004, son Robert Joseph (Butch) Henrickson III, infant grandson, Robert Joseph Henrickson IV and four brothers and five sisters. Those left to cherish her memory, one son Tim O. Henrickson and wife Claudia of Mt. Holly, NC and granddaughter Kelly Henrickson Wilson of Kannapolis. Graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday April 25, 2019 at Carolina Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, 101 Vance Ave, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
